Guess who's back // So, your home girl LJ went back home to her chapter yesterday. Recruitment was quite the roller coaster ride, but I absolutely loved my time as rho gamma. My reveal was straight fire, per my expectations. I'm just so happy to be home, you have no clue.

The Quan // In case you were wondering what my fire reveal was, it was a mashup of My House and Hit the Quan. I know... you really wish you could've seen it.

Covers // My personalized Erin Condren covers finally came in, so expect some planner posts coming up in the near future. They're so cute I could actually cry a little bit.

Sisters // I really do have the best sisters ever. They're such amazing women and I cannot be more happy and excited to be home. They've given me so much over the last year, and I'm forever grateful to them for opening up their hearts to me.

Rho gams // If any of you are reading this- I miss you and I love you. Also, I'm not ready to part with you guys, so I hope you know that I will constantly be bugging you all in the groupme to hang out. And find out who's in the OC even though we can sit with anyone now. I still want to sit with you guys, you all gave me one of the craziest months of my life, but I loved the ride.

Tuesday // WHEN YOU GET SO BUSY THAT YOU ACTUALLY END UP POSTING THIS ON TUESDAY AT 12:47 AM <<<

Happy Monday (or maybe Tuesday??), everybody!

What your Rho Gammas want you to know about recruitment

Wednesday, September 23, 2015

For my university, recruitment starts tomorrow. That's right- the student center will be abuzz with excitement similar to that of Christmas. This weekend mine-as-well be a school wide holiday for all Greeks on campus. While recruitment is exciting for chapters because it means growth, recruitment can be nerve-wrecking for potential new members on the hunt for their new homes. Having gone through recruitment and coming out the other side a year later and a whole lot stronger, I'm hear to be your fairy rho-gammother and bring you all some advice about what you need to know about recruitment.

1 // Be yourself. If you're finding that you really have to struggle to fit a perceived ideal of a chapter, it might not be the chapter for you. And that's okay. There is a reason that your chapter will be your home.

2 // It's okay to be nervous. Everyone is nervous. The girls in your recruitment group are nervous, the chapter members are nervous- heck, even your Rho Gamma is nervous. It's totally normal. But don't let it consume you. Embrace the weird nervous feeling and run with it.

3 // Show your excitement. If you really really really like a chapter, or even an aspect of it, tell the sorority women that! It shows your enthusiasm and honestly, nobody is a mind reader so they will be clear that you're passionate about them.

4 // Ask questions when you're in your rounds. Be interested about learning more and ask chapter members meaningful questions (such as: why did they go Greek or what their favorite memory has been).

5 // Go in with an open mind. I went into recruitment thinking I knew exactly where I wanted to be. Then I went through the rounds the first night and suddenly I was thinking about a chapter I hadn't even considered previously before. Granted, my original number one became my home (and I am truly so blessed), your recruitment process will never be clear cut. Don't limit yourself because you can't get out of your own mind.

6 // Make friends with the girls in your color / rounds group. These girls will either become A) your sisters, B) some of your best friends, or C) someone you happen to share a class with every fall semester and literally run into on campus all the time. Make bonds with these girls. It's a special relationship that is built when individuals are going through the same process.

7 // Utilize your Rho Gammas. We have been training for months for this short week and we are so excited for you, you probably can't even fathom it. We literally love you as our own children and just want to foster your growth in Greek life. So please- ask us questions, send us outfit pics, tell us how you're feeling. We want to be apart of your recruitment process. We live for recruitment.

8 // Have fun. Don't stress yourself out over recruitment. At the end of the day, you will end up where you belong. Which brings me to...

9 // Trust the process. You may not realize it while it's happening, but you will end up where you belong. I've talked to people who didn't want to be apart of their chapters originally but they gave it a shot and ended up loving it; they would not want to be anywhere else. So just know that wherever you go, there's a reason why it'll end up being home.

10 // Have fun. Be authentic. Recruitment can be the best experience of your life. I know that not for one minute of my life have I ever regretted going through recruitment and becoming a member of Greek life. #NoRagrets.

Good luck with recruitment, ladies! Your homes are waiting for you!

Recruitment // Recruitment is here. Thursday starts the official process for my university, but I am unbelievably excited for recruitment this year. Acting as Rho Gamma has been so amazing and the moment is finally approaching where I can take everything that I've learned over the summer and help out these PNMs. I can't wait to welcome them into the Greek community!

Workload //  This week is going to be a whirlwind of experiences happening, but I also have to do my best to stay on top of my work load. Sophomore year is coming with much more responsibility, but I cannot wait to see what this year has in store.

Posts //  I don't know if it's because of the sheer amount of work I've been doing, but I'm falling into a post slump again. If you have anything you want to see on the blog, shoot me an email or drop me a comment!

Reveal // I cannot wait to reveal to my chapter. I'm darn near positive that I already have talked about this so much but I'm so excited for it. Even if all I end up doing is crying on stage.

Appreciation // I have grown to appreciate my sorority so much through the Rho Gamma process. I've learned to appreciate all of Greek life, honestly. I think prior to this experience I just took my chapter for granted as sisters who I would always be able to see. This month was a reality check for me. I cannot wait to jump off stage to my biggie and finally be reunited with my closest friends.

Yoga // I'm back into yoga, and I've been loving it. I go a couple of times a week and it's so nice to just have an hour completely for myself. I am especially looking forward to sunset yoga this Wednesday at my school. I'm expecting it to be a very zen experience.

That's my week for ya! Has your school started/finished the recruitment process? I'd love to hear about it! If you're considering it, I highly encourage you go Greek!

Fall Transition

Wednesday, September 16, 2015

Here's a typical outfit I'll wear to class while transition into fall. Right now my campus is still really hot, but the mornings and certain lecture halls tend to be really chilly. To combat this, I'll pair a simple button down with some breezy linen shorts and just call it a morning.

How do you transition into fall?

Tutoring // My tutor nights start tonight and I am so excited and nervous all at the same time. I've been training and prepping for this for so long, and I cannot wait to start to make a difference in the lives of students living in the resident halls on campus.

Moe's // I literally think that since my campus acquired a Moe's that I've eaten there every day for lunch. It's actually quite possible that I will gain a sophomore 20 (is that a thing?). Stay tuned for more updates.

Reveal // I literally finished my reveal mix like 20 minutes ago and I am so excited and proud of my mediocre garage band mixing. (All I did was splice together parts of a song so that it wasn't inappropriate but still... small victories...)

RECRUITMENT // 10 DAYS UNTIL BID DAY. 13 DAYS UNTIL BID DAY. 13 DAYS UNTIL I GO HOME / SEE MY BIG. CAN YOU TELL THE HYPE IS REAL?!?

Real talk //  I feel extremely, truly blessed that I have made such close bonds with my staff to the point where our idea of a good time is hanging out in a lounge and watching movies or swinging on hammocks talking about life. If y'all are reading this, thanks for being so authentic. Much love, fam.

Jealous //  *lowkey* jealous of my sisters who get to hang out together / take cute snaps / get to hang out with my big. Hope you're all ready for me to smoother you with love on bid day. You won't know what's about to hit you...

Happy Monday!

Life Lately

Saturday, September 12, 2015

Just a quick update on my life, where I've been, what's going on, and some general news about me.

1 // Boxed water isn't anything impressive. You've now been warned.

2 // Working for housing is quite the trip. If you have the opportunity to do it, I highly recommend it. You're going to meet people you probably wouldn't have met otherwise, and you're going to wonder how you could have gone through college without them.

3 // I'm getting to the rough part of being a Rho Gamma where I'm really missing my sisters, but for as much as I'm missing them, I'm even more jazzed to start recruitment (#gogreek).

4 // Volunteer to work events at your school. It's so much fun interacting with your campus and it's a unique way to experience annual shindigs.

5 // Sophomore year is coming at me hard. I don't even know how to explain how, but it just is.

6 // Learn how to be responsible for your own happiness. It makes all the difference.

7 // You have to let other people make their own mistakes no matter how hard it is to watch them struggle.

8 // If someone is no longer helping you grow as a person, it is okay to walk away if you know it will be better for you in the long run. Don't be afraid of personal growth- embrace it.

9 // I actually don't mind communal living. In fact, it's nice not having to clean the bathroom all the time.

10 // Really I'm just learning how to do me and be my own person for a change.

Sorry for my vague life update. How's life for you guys?

Chaco-bout It

Wednesday, September 9, 2015

romper (similar)  // necklace (similar) // chacos

Here are some quick pics from my first day of school outfit! I absolutely adore this romper, and it's so easy and effortless while still being comfy. And can we chaco-bout the shoes? I absolutely love my chacos and will wear them with anything. Literally. Anything.

What did you wear for the first day of classes?

Tigers /  I love baseball. It's one of the first things my roomie and I ever bonded over last year and it's basically the only sport I truly enjoy watching. What perfect way to spend a holiday then go to a Tigers game, right? I've never gotten to go to a game on a holiday, so it was a blast. Not to mention it was a winning game too!

Hot / My dorm room is so hot. I think it's actually making me sick, if I'm being honest. I wake up every day with the worst headache and I actually feel like I could throw up sometimes. Maybe another fan is in my future...

Recruitment / only like, two full weeks until recruitment starts! I miss my big so gosh darn much, and I really cannot wait to talk to my friends who are going through recruitment right now. It's so hard to be Rho Gamma sometimes, but I know it's going to feel so great to go home on Bid Day.

Hit the quan / This is just a shameless plug telling you all that I can hit the quan. Like. Really hit it. Just ask my friends, I'm a pro at it.

Reading /  I have a love hate relationship with all of my classes in the sense that I love having reading based classes, but I would sometimes way prefer to have classes where I'm actually doing some type of work. It can just be so tedious to read endlessly. Anyone else agree?

Free nights / This night is actually like my last free night of summer. Even though classes started Thursday, it wasn't really anything too daunting. Gone are my nights of roaming on campus with friends until almost 2 AM. RIP, you'll be missed.

Happy Labor Day, everybody!
