Here's just a round up of some of my favorite fall style must haves right now! I know the season is getting close to it's end, but I've always considered fall to be more of a state of mind anyways...

What are your favorite fall trends or styles?

Sippin away the long day...

Sisterhood // This weekend and day has been one of those moments where I am extremely grateful for all of the sisters I have in my life. They are precious and I am enormously blessed to have them.

Bid day //  The panhel feels continued this weekend as my school welcomed our fifth chapter to our campus. I am so excited to see what lays ahead for Tri Sigma as they cultivate their sisterhood and join the Greek community.

Cancelations // Can we all say #blessed that my second class for tomorrow was canceled? I never get classes canceled so this is a rarity for me. I am so stoked to have an afternoon to myself to just catch up on life...

Tutoring // The APM life has actually been going really well and I feel so much better about tutoring residents now. It's a surreal experience to be helping students and peers, but I love this opportunity to be apart of housing.

Cedar Point // Saying I'm excited to be going to Halloweekends on Saturday is an understatement. Stoked may be the better word, in fact. I've never been to Halloweekends before, so this will be a first, plus it's been years now since I last went to Cedar Point.

Panhel love // I've just been getting all the feels this weekend as I watch my PNMs find out their bigs, find their homes, and just find their place within Greek life at my school. Being a Rho Gamma was such a life-changing experience, and I am so grateful for the opportunity. You never really know how great your chapter is until you have to leave it for a month, but you don't fully understand the privilege that being a member of Greek life is until your thrusted out of your comfort zone.

Hoping your Monday is rounding off nicely!

You Are Not A Sorority Girl.

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

I have a problem, and it's kind of a big one. My problem stems from media blasts, catty websites, and the portrayals of us running rampant on screen. Because we are easy targets; we are easily degraded. There are endless streams of jokes made about us, horrible nicknames, and misconceived notions about what we actually do. Rather than being seen as contributions to our community, we are viewed negatively. It's a problem that members experience daily, but can often go unresolved because bringing the topic up makes us look hungry for attention. My problem is with the term "sorority girl," and it should be your problem too.

As a sorority woman, I hold myself to a high standard. The second I was given my bid, I felt an overpowering sense that I was now apart of something more than myself. My sorority holds over a hundred years of tradition, service, excellence, and sisterhood. I proudly wear my letters because I believe and value what they represent. The women in my sorority are some of the best women I have been blessed to meet. There is something so powerful about sisterhood and the way in which it brings people together. My sisters are smart, intelligent, and driven women who inspire me daily. They possess far more qualities of young independent women than those of adolescent girls.

Sororities are comprised of collegiate women working to better themselves in academics and in sisterhood. Most, if not all, of my sisters are working their way through school, experiencing adult life on their own, and paving their career paths. They manage academics, a job, and a social life. The juggling act that they somehow so brilliantly manage is admirable. All of these qualities are that of a young woman, or any woman for that matter, working her way through life. So if we are doing all of these things regularly, why are we deemed sorority girls instead of sorority women?

The last time I checked, I am no longer a foolish girl. I don't wear my hair in pig tails, I stopped wearing glitter lipsmackers at the age of 9, and I outgrew my tricycle about 14 years ago. I pay my car insurance, focus on my studies, and work towards paying for my housing. I am not a girl, I am a young woman. And shouldn't we hold ourselves to a higher standard than to degrade ourselves to being called sorority girls? Let's not just stop at the term sorority girls... let's not let ourselves be called girls period. Why let ourselves be cast into a box that we are not members of? We are more than stereotypes, more than foolish girls running around with letters on our shirts, more than what society labels us.

We are women coming together to better our lives and the lives of those around us. We care about philanthropy and service, and while yes, we enjoy our socials and mixers, we know that there is more to being in a sorority than that. While we know what we stand for, outsiders do not. We have to positively represent our letters in our actions, words, and attitudes. Being in a sorority is not a fashion statement, it is a lifestyle. Don't be afraid to correct people. Re-iterate why you are a sorority woman. Because we are not sorority girls. We are sorority women.

I'm a Big (again)! // This weekend I was fortunate enough to become a big to my second little! I am so proud of my entire family, and adding a new addition made us even better! I can't wait to see all of the things our family accomplishes in the next year.

Cider mills // I donut know whether to be embarrassed or proud that in the last week I went to the cider mill twice... Regardless, it's my favorite fall tradition and I am so happy that I got to share the memories with some of the people I love most- my sisters!

Cherry pepsi //  For as much as I love cherry pepsi, I really need to cut back on it... I think I drink it every day and I know for sure that cannot be good for me. I seriously need to get back to my gallon or more of water a day. I think that'll be my challenge for the rest of this month...

Moe's // I honestly think one of the only things that got me through this day was the Moe's I ate for lunch. I had the best burrito bowl ever, but it was even better when my free chips were from the fresh batch. Is it bad that I'm actually so happy about that?

Mamacita // I've been really missing my mom lately, and I cannot wait for my next chance to go home. I'm not even ashamed to admit that my mom is my hands down number one best friend. I am so blessed to have the mother I do, she's simply the best. I love you mom!

Instagram // More than normal I have been obsessed with fab instgram feeds. If you know anyone with a great aesthetic, drop me a line because I would love to creep / follow!

Hoping your Monday has been a short one!

Fall Favorites Playlist

Wednesday, October 7, 2015

Though this list is short, these five songs have been the ones I've been gravitating to a ton this last month! They're great when you need to power through some homework or are in need of a study break. Perfect for putting on some headphones and tuning out the world (especially when there's annoying people around you in the library).

Antiquing // This past weekend, my mom and I got to go antiquing together. It was such a nice afternoon of just strolling through the fair with my mom finding hidden gems. We got a few pieces we want to refurbish and craft together, so expect pictures in the future!

Planner // I just got my new planner covers in and they are perfect! My Erin Condren has literally been the best planner I've ever purchased, and I am obsessed with how customizable they are!

Snapware // My mom has packed me up for the week with so much snapware, you would not believe how much food I brought back. I'm so excited to have a bunch of fresh fruits and veggies in my room now!

Cold // I swear out of nowhere it got cold in the Mitten. One day it was seventies and sunny, and now it's in the fifties, cold, and just dreary. I swear I have been in a perpetual state of cold from the last week.

Sleep // Another thing I'm in a perpetual state of? Sleep deprived-ness. I'm pretty positive that I'm still recovering from recruitment, and that ended like, a week a go. Will I ever catch up on sleep? The blog my never know...

Crafting // Big and little season is upon us and that means one thing... crafting. All the crafts, honestly. I've got canvases and letters and frames galore to paint and decorate and I cannot wait to get started on them!

May your coffee be short and your Monday be long!
