Looking Back

This past year has been quite the journey. I stepped outside of my comfort zone, went Rho Gamma for my school's Panhellenic Recruitment, found true and fantastic friends, and discovered ways to laugh more each and every day than I ever thought possible.
I spent time outdoors and re-connected with myself. I grew as an individual and learned so much about what it means to make yourself happy. Though at times I've thought it was selfish to focus on my needs, I learned that taking time for yourself is necessary.
I've began to collect moments (and take pictures of them, of course) and appreciate the people I surround myself with rather than things. The difference having genuine friends in your life is incredible, and I am forever grateful for those I consider my forever friends.
I learned that distance really can make the heart grow fonder. Spending a month away from some of my nearest and dearest friends may be one of the hardest things I've done within Panhellenic, but it also helped me to realize my passions.
Laughter was never in short supply over the past year, either. I've never felt more joy in my life than I have in these last few months, and I truly credit it to surrounding myself with those who are like-minded. Appreciating the little things has left so much room in my heart for happiness.
I've also experienced the blessing of finding a best friend when you least expect to. I haven't realized how much I would need some people until the were suddenly apart of my life. Having friendships this special makes me extremely grateful for all the memories we have shared and also the ones we have yet to make.
Making myself happy was a lesson I learned near the end of the year. It is so so important to know how to make yourself happy, but it is also equally as important to allow yourself to be with those that add to your happiness. Never depend on a person singularly, but allow yourself to share your life with those who make you smile and laugh (and most importantly, those who will leave JB on in the car for you because they know how much you love him-even if he was just on the other station).
2015 was also filled with my favorite meal (brunch) in great abundance. May we all experience the deliciousness of brunch with great company and good conversation. I don't think people take the time to talk to each other face to face as much, and brunch is one of my favorite ways to do so.
In the coming year, I hope to experience as much joy, happiness, learning, and laughter as I have in 2015. While much has changed, I could not be prouder of where the year has taken me. Here's to another year of intentionally and genuinely living life.

5 Reasons You Secretly Hate Winter Break

NYE Outfit Inspo

Tuesday, December 29, 2015

With New Years rapidly approach, I figured some outfit inspo could help us all out. Whether you want to go edgier with a romper or sequined pants, or classic with a sparkly dress, you're sure to find something that catches your eye! I myself am on the fence still as to what I want to wear, so I'm figuring other people may be too (or maybe not, I'm usually last minute on any and all outfit plans...).

What will you be wearing this NYE?

NYE // New Years Eve is only a few days a way, and I cannot wait to ring in the new year with my favorite people. I always look forward to New Years Eve because it's like a fresh start. It presents a new year full of possibilities, and at the end of a long semester, what could be more exciting?

Harry Potter // This past weekend was Harry Potter weekend, so I appropriately sat myself in front of my TV, snuggled in with multiple blankets, and binge watched my way through the series. I'm also working my way through the books again, so in between commercial breaks, I cracked the spine of the Goblet of Fire once again, really rounding out the entire series and making for a very Harry weekend.

Euchre // By some sort of miracle I maybe might have caught onto euchre (but let's pay heavy emphasis on the word *maybe* before we get ahead of ourselves). I've got to give a lot of credit to Matt and his family for being patient with me while I blew round after round, but there's a fighting chance that I can impress my friend Abby now that I've got a better concept of the game. (Also, I have to call out Matt for looking at my hand every. single. round. Thanks bae.)

Abbae // Speaking of Abby, I get to see her this week! I can't wait to road trip it out to PH to see my long lost best friend (it's only been a week, but still...). I can't wait to eat copious amounts of food, watch movies, and play with her dog. But mostly, I can't wait to catch up. Some conversations are just too good for text messages.

Break // It's my last week of break, and it could not be more bittersweet. On one hand, I miss my friends and oddly enough, the campus rec. On the other hand, I know I'm going to dread piles of homework and waking up for my 8AM. If only I could hit the pause button on this break and make it last another few days longer.

Weather // Michigan got the memo late and decided to hit us with a sleet storm today. Needless to say, I'm basically confined to my house until it lifts. I don't think this is what people meant when they said they wanted a white Christmas at all. To be perfectly honest, I don't see all the hype with snow. I would be just as happy to live down south in the winter, but that's some wishful thinking.

Here's to a week of finishing out the year strong!
P.S. Notice anything different? LSoM has been getting a facelift! To add to the layout change, I'm planning out some more new content. What would you know to see?

Silent Night

Thursday, December 24, 2015

Despite this break seeming shorter than last year, I'm extremely grateful for it. It's awarded me time spent with old friends, family, and loved ones. Taking part in tradition tonight, my family and I will sit around the TV n our pajamas, eat Chinese food, and watch A Christmas Story. My little sister will want to open gifts already, because all of the wrapped boxes under the tree will be too tempting for her, and we'll each open one gift. As my family settles into our own routine for the night of Christmas Eve, I want to wish you all a merry Christmas- from my home to yours.

Happy Holidays, everyone

Christmas Break // I'm finally home on winter and it's marvelous. So far it's been a week of me doing nothing, sitting on my couch, and watching Christmas movies on ABC Family in my donut jammies. Is this what heaven looks like? It's possible...

Reading // Despite it being break, I'm hitting the books once again- but this time for my own enjoyment. I've had a list of books I've been meaning to read for basically a whole semester, so now that there's some free time in my schedule, I'm planning on plowing through the stack that's been sitting on the floor next to my bed. Wish me luck!

Wild Lights // If there's one thing I want to do this break, it's see the lights at the zoo. With only one weekend left though, it might be a challenge, but maybe I'll make it happen. Has anyone been this year, or in years past? I'd love to hear about it!

Muscle // On my way back home from school, I pulled a muscle coughing (pathetic, I know...), but it's finally starting to heal up! Between foam rolling and heating packs, I think I'm finally in shape to workout again, which is such a relief because I miss the endorphin rush so much. Any good workouts lately?

Semi // Last Friday I went to my boyfriend's semi and it was so much fun! Despite getting a dress literally 4 hours before the night started, it was honestly one of the best nights of the semester. Having some of my amazing sisters there, as well as all of the brothers made for an unforgettable night.

Wrapping gifts // I think I've wrapped so many gifts these last few days that Cindy Lou Who's dad would be proud of me. Has anyone seen videos of professional gift wrappers before? I'm seriously jealous of how they use maybe two whole pieces of tape and hardly do any folding. Now if only they could teach me their ways...

Happy Holidays, everyone!

a little motivation for us all this monday
{via}

Finals week //  It took me a full week to even start my finals compared to the rest of campus. For the last week I've spent the majority of my time in the library, studying my life away. I don't think I've studied so much in my entire life, yet I hardly feel prepared for my hardest exam. Send me the good vibes today, please!

UGH! // The 1975's new song UGH! is maybe the best thing I've heard from them since I first heard Chocolate a couple of years ago. It's been on repeat while I've been studying and 10/10 recommend you listen to it.

Packing // I don't know why or how it always happens, but once again I am packing up my room for winter break the day before I have to move out. Last night in a frustrated rage of being stressed out by finals and the lack of work done in my room, I threw half of my closet into a duffle bag, thinking it would all fit. I was wrong. Now it's time to reevaluate what I'm bringing home for the next 3 weeks...

Coffee // Finals week made me realize that I actually am a coffee dependent life form, not matter how much I've tried to fight it this year. Someone attach the coffee IV now, please.

8AMs // 8AM exams were created by Satan, I am convinced. How can one possibly be functioning that early for a final? I sure can't. It'll be interesting having 8AMs next semester, that's for sure.

Sisters // I got to see the movie Sisters early with some of my sorority sisters and let me just say: funniest. movie. ever. It's been a while since I've seen a movie that's made me laugh that much, but Sisters was seriously funny. Catch it in theaters Dec. 18th (trust me, you won't want to miss this one).

With Christmas upon us, ugly sweater season is also on our heels! Here are a few of my pics for some not-so-ugly Christmas sweaters you can be proud to rock this holiday season! Which one is your favorite? (I'm personally a fan of #3!)

Now if only OU's library was this aesthetically pleasing...

Semi // Semi was a bangin' time, and honestly the best one I've been to so far. Despite not having a dress until 3 days before the event, it was the best time I've had in a while. I accredit it to the amazing people that I'm lucky enough to surround myself with, because without them it wouldn't have been nearly as great (but also there was a rage-worthy Justin Bieber mix played so that helps too...).

Table 3 // I also loved my table at semi, so they deserve an entire portion of today's post just to themselves. Table 3 was filled with some of my best friends and many roasting sessions. There honestly couldn't be a more fire group of people to sit with.

Aubs // Mad love to heyitsmaddiea (or lovingly, hey it's medea) for doing my hair, listening to trap music while getting ready together, and for bringing me nuggets despite being a vegetarian. Ily fam.

Club K // If anyone needs me this week, I will be in the library. Finals are next week *sobs uncontrollably* so I plan on camping out there. Feel free to bring me coffee, food, blankets, love, some puppies. Anything really.

Purpose // It's been weeks and I'm stilling jamming to this album. I have no shame in the JB game. Nearly 20 years old and I'm still a hardcore Belieber (it's okay, I hate myself for saying that too.) #NoFakeFans

Looking back // With this semester coming to a close, I cannot help but look at how much has changed in the last few months. The growth that just a little bit of time can do for you is crazy to think about, but I couldn't be happier with how this last semester has gone. Now if only I could make it through finals now...

KJPxSJP // The wedding of the preppy century happened this weekend... It's no big deal... check out the pic here so we can all cry together over it.

Hope everyone is off to a productive week!

Mid-Week Motivation

With the rapid approach of finals, I felt we could all use a little bit of mid-week motivation.
Enjoy, my lovelies!
