I love reading. It is plain and simple. And once summer roles around you can bet your bottom dollar that I will have a book on hand or in my bag. This year has been especially awesome for my summer reads due to one major college perk: no summer homework. Since I can remember I have fast tracked junior high and high school with advanced placement English classes, all with their own share of summer homework. And for whatever reason, having to read three or four books in three months was never doable, and sparknotes was my best friend every August. But those days are behind me, and I have been reading three or four books every two weeks, and with the summer season here, I thought I would give you all a little bit of reading inspiration for those days where you just want to lay out by the beach or pool, get your tan on, and dive into the words on the pages.

Here's what I've been reading and loving:

First off is Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight. All I can say is wow. I'm not usually one for mystery novels, but this one was so captivating that as soon as classes ended I don't think that I once put this book down. It was so brilliantly written that it was nothing shy of captivating. Told from two separate perspectives, this book will be sure to be in your hands at all time, as it is such an intriguing story of a mother and her unconditional love for her daughter.

Next on my list is Nantucket Blue by Leila Howland. This book is a perfect example of my kind of summer read. Taking place on, you guessed it, Nantucket, Cricket Thompson is on a mission to comfort her best friend after and unforeseen loss, only to be given the cold shoulder. Winding up nearly broke on the island, Cricket finds work at an inn, and winds up with an unlikely summer romance all of her own. This novel will pull you right onto the island itself, and you'll never want the summer on Nantucket to end.

This book has been on my list for quite some time now, but I've been holding it off until school let out, and I am so glad I did. My Life Next Door, by Huntley Fitspatrick is similar to a Romeo and Juliet story, filled with troublesome parents, too many outside opinions, and two lovers who go against the odds and plunge into the greatest first love any teen would hope to find. I highly recommend this book, especially for the summer, as it is a hard one to put down.

Last, and most certainly NOT least is Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by my girl Morgan Matson. Matson has quickly become my favorite author over the last few months, and this is my third read from her. This novel will take you on the trip of a lifetime, as the title suggests, and you will never pin for two characters to get together as much as you will for Amy and Roger. If you love this book, I would also highly, HIGHLY, recommend that you check out other books by the lovely Morgan Matson. My favorite title of hers thus far has been Second Chance Summer, but you may need tissues on hand when reading, it will tear you apart.
